I started The Rose Quinn Podcast in September 2017, which was shortly after I finished writing my second novel! It was a way for me to share what I've learned about being an author and the immense challenges that come with creating a world inside a book. I love writing and love that I have an excuse to ramble on about it for an hour every other week.
Hey! You guys choose to listen to it! (Which I'm so grateful for!)
This episode took me a lot longer to put together than I thought. I started out thinking I was gonna try and be a writing guru for people but that's not really me. I'm kinda silly and going through some interesting stuff, so I talk a little bit about that. I talk about the first book I remember LOVING and a book I read recently that I love. Go on... PRESS PLAY.
I get to chat with Erin McDermott who is the author of Captive Rebel and tells me about her self publishing journey. She also has a new book coming out Immortal Rebel - GO RUN, BUY IT!
November means NaNoWriMo and I'm super excited to do it for the second year in a row. But sometimes, I get distracted and find myself thinking TOO hard about my story. I've definitely got a murder board started on my wall and although it seems like a little much, it's totally helpful (and mostly makes me feel cool!).
AND I got to chat with bestselling author Sara Celi - she's so insanely talented and has worked really hard to get to where she is. Listen up and learn! Make sure to pre-order her new book Lusting for Luke, it comes out on November 27, 2017.
Can we talk about being stuck in the middle of a story for a moment? And how sometimes it feels like you're walking up a hill with rocks strapped to your chest and then you fall asleep on your keyboard? Well - I got stuck in the middle of my 2017 NaNoWriMo novel and I'm gonna share some of the tips and tricks I found while trying to get out of that funk.
Say hello to the lovely KA Dowling, author of The Changing Tide and amazing human being.
So your first draft is done? You've finished and now you're wondering how to attack the mountain of pages in front of you. Well, let me tell you how I go about attacking the revising process. AND My friend Abigail Carlson joins me and we chat about how much goes into world building and how we may be too impatient for this publishing biz.
In this episode: I talk about how important it is to be a reader in addition to being a writer. You can learn a lot about storytelling and how to improve your own writing from reading. Also, hear more about my favorite book of the week, THE LAST GIRL and a review of JANE STEELE. The guest this week is the LOVELY Andrea Dunlop and she shares her journey as an author with us. Her novel SHE REGRETS NOTHING comes out February 6, 2018. Go buy it!
This episode is all about villains! How to write the BEST villains and some of my favorite TV villains. My favorite book of the week is THE HUNDREDTH QUEEN by Emily R. Black. The guest this week is Michael Lee Morrison who talks to us about his debut novel THE BAETYLUS STONE.
